The beike necklace is the official insignia of the Caney spiritual leader. It is bestowed upon the newly ordained beike by his or her teacher along with tobacco or pipe and the ordination certificate.
The beike necklace is patterned after a number of traditional Taino shell necklaces discovered by archeologists and resembling the artifact pictured below.
